Declining to provide personal data
By law, we are required to collect basic contact and payment information when conducting business. Further, our consulting business is conducted remotely and therefore requires email correspondence and video calls. To track usage of our website, we collect aggregated statistics via Google Analytics. This does not include information about your personal identity.
Secure communication
Although our inquisigen.ca email domain is secure, emails are not encrypted end-to-end. If you wish to add extra layers of security to communications with any inquisigen.ca email address, it is your responsibility to request signed and/or encrypted communications. We are happy to add PGP or S/MIME certificates on our end.
For video calls, we rely on third-party applications (primarily Google Meet, which has appropriate encryption measures). We take several steps to mitigate privacy/security breaches during meetings, such as creating a unique meeting code for each session and inviting specific participants directly via email or a calendar event. We do not invite unauthorized participants to any video calls, and authorized participants are responsible for keeping meeting codes in a secure location.
Transfer, storage, and use of scientific data
Your private scientific data will be transferred via secure connections only, unless you have explicitly requested an alternative. The method selected and agreed upon by all parties will be described in the contract.
Your private scientific data will be stored securely on our compute resources and will not be shared with anyone other than the individuals named on the contract. If you would like us to delete your data at any point prior to two months after the end of a contract, you must let us know before signing the contract, and this request will be appended to the contract.
Usage of these data will be determined on a case-by-case basis and detailed in the contract. All usage will be limited to the scope of the project. Private data will not be re-used in contracts with other parties unless they have become publicly available.
Intellectual property
Any results (new methods or discoveries) originating from the analyses performed under your contract with Inquisigen Consulting Inc. will remain your own property. As such, we waive our rights to any intellectual property and we will maintain confidentiality of all methods and findings relating to your contract, unless you have opted to publish them yourself.
